I started drooling over the Ferm Molecule Set as soon as I spotted it on Pinterest. I started researching where to buy it and discovered that it came with a pretty hefty price tag. Of course, right?!

Well, I'm not one to shy away from a DIY project, so I made it my duty to make one just as good for half the price. (More than half the price, actually!) If you're anything like me and 1) are looking for a reasonable alternative to the one you can buy, here and 2) have a little extra time on your hands...I've got just the craft for you!

- 1 package of wooden dowels, 3/8'
- 1 package of wood dowel caps, 1" with 3/8" holes
- 1 package of wooden balls, either 1.5-2" in size
- 6 bottles of paint (you can use any brand of acrylic paint you prefer, I just chose craft smart because it had the widest variety of colors available)
- 1 paintbrush
- Wood hole saw
Step 1: Start painting!

Step 2: Once dry, drill holes in the larger wooden balls. To replicate the model I created, follow the guide below:
- 2 with 5 holes
- 1 with 4 holes
- 3 with 3 holes
- 3 with 2 holes
Step 3: Cut the dowels down to various lengths and assemble!

Voila!
