Kyle and I drove up to Pentwater, Michigan a couple of weeks ago for a little family vacation. It was Kyle's first time in Michigan and it was fun to show him around and reminisce about the summer I spent living in Grand Rapids with my sister before either of us were married. One of my favorite things was watching the sunset over Lake Michigan. In the picture above, you can't see it, but there was a man blowing HUGE bubbles for all the kids. My nephew loved it and was chasing them all around. I snapped this picture of him right before the sun fell below the water line.
It's rare for our whole family to be together and truly only happens about once a year...which to me is really, really sad. However, my parents are planning to move to Nashville next August so they can be around at least one of their kids (and grand-babies!), and I know that will make things easier for everyone to visit. I am so excited for them to get here. Neither Kyle nor I grew up with grandparents in our hometowns, so we are really looking forward to providing that for our kids. I'm especially anticipating Sunday dinners together after church and going on walks around the neighborhood.
Our little girl isn't even here yet, but I'm already thinking about what her sibling(s) will be like. Will she have a sister close in age like I did? There is truly nothing like the bond between sisters and I have a really amazing one to look up to. She is an incredible mother and such an encouragement to me. I couldn't have hand picked anyone better in the whole world.
It was a great trip. I definitely ate my share of Hudsonville ice cream while we were out there. And I definitely don't regret it.
